  Civil Services Exam - Public Administration Prelims
 
Public administrations as an optional for civil services prelims was introduced in 1987. Since them candidates choosing their optional are growing. This optional has almost like a gained attration of candidates of every background. Not only the candidates with regular humanities background but also the Engineering and medicines students are also opting it. The following are the reasons for its popularity.
  1. Syllabus is limited.
  2. 1/3 of its syllabus coincided with polity a part of General Studies.
  3. Topics are easy to understand.
  4. Topics coincide with management topics.
  5. Student of B.com, M.com, MBA etc. studies most of these topics as part of their management paper.
  6. This subject is also popular among candidates with political science background because public administration is an off shoot of political science.
  7. Limited number of books to be read
  8. Wider availability of material.
  9. Wider availability of coaching facilities.
 
Preparation plan

The whole syllabus should be studied with intensive approach. It requires following six steps in that sequence
  1. Study a particular topic from some material
  2. Read the same concept from a guide
  3. Read the topic from various text books which are listed later.
  4. Underline the relevant important are as in the text book.
  5. Draw notes from the text books
  6. Practice questions from the guide, related to that chapter.
